The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Summary
Sauron looks passably different inThe Lord of the Rings : The Rings of Powerseason 2 , and this is the physique he should have guide from the beginning . The Prime Video series is an opportunity to get to know the Dark Lord in a mode that was n’t possible in Peter Jackson’sLord of the Ringstrilogy since the baddie caused much more hands - on worry during the Second Age . At this point in in-between - earth story , Sauron could take near any form he chose , though one in particular was featured in Tolkien’sThe Silmarillion .
Thetrailer forThe Rings of Powerseason 2sees the issue of player Charlie Vickers as Sauron , though he is sport a different look this time . In season 1 , Sauron took the form of a man identify Halbrand , and he used this seemingly powerless character to earn Galadriel ’s cartel and manipulate her into getting the Numenoreans to agitate in the Southlands . The reveal that Halbrand was Sauron came as quite a surprise since this was seemingly an original persona toThe Rings of Power . Going into season 2 , Vickers is taking on a more conversant variation of Sauron .
The Lord of the Rings : The Rings of Power season 2 promise to continue the origin story of the powerful rings - and let loose Sauron at last .
Sauron Is Fully Adopting His “Annatar” Persona In The Rings Of Power Season 2
The Rings Of Power Season 2 Has Introduced Sauron’s Elf Form
In Tolkien’sThe Silmarillion , Sauron takes on an Elf form visit Annatar , and it ’s through this persona that he cozen the Elves of Eregion into help him forge the Rings of Power . Prime Video’sThe Rings of Powerseason 1took a different direction , but the trailer for season 2 reveals that Sauron is finally take on this Elf form . Vickers is experience disport pointy capitulum and foresightful hair , and though the name " Annatar " is never mention , it ’s discernible from his mien in Eregion thatRings of Poweris finally bring this Sauron version to the filmdom .
Prime Video may not have rights to the name Annatar since it can only legally adapt from Tolkien’sLord of the Ringsbooks . Sauron ’s Elf name was only ever bring up inThe SilmarillionandThe Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle - world , so this persona may go by a different name inThe Rings of Powerseason 2 .
Annatar Really Should’ve Appeared In The Rings Of Power Season 1
Sauron Using A Human Form To Deceive The Elves Doesn’t Make Much Sense
After the result ofThe Rings of Powerseason 1 , it seemed as if Prime Video would leave out Saurson ’s Elf var. entirely . Though it ’s excellent that Annatar is being brought in for time of year 2 , it ’s a strange selection since the intent of this form was to garner the Elf ’s trust to falsify them into making the Rings of Power . Doing this as Halbrand did n’t make much sensory faculty , so there was no rationality someone like Celebrimbor would be so take with a Man , even if he was a friend of Galadriel ’s .
Halbrand was presented as a sort of Aragorn - alike figure to throw interview off and make the Sauron uncover all the more jolting .
It seems that the only real reason thatThe Rings of Powerseason 1 featured Halbrand rather than Annataris for the electrical shock gene . Halbrand was presented as a sort of Aragorn - like physical body to switch hearing off and make the Sauron divulge all the more jolting . Still , the Dark Lord is supposed to be highly cunning , and it is n’t easy to warrant his determination to take the frame of a Man in - world . There ’s nothing untimely with Prime Video’sThe Rings of Powertrying to surprise its audience , but it should do so in mode that still make sense for the characters and their need .
