Mark Wahlberg playsMax Payne , a cop who ’s wife and shaver were murdered and who subsequently becomes an obsessed castaway in the police department . finally he team up up with Mona Sax ( played by Mila Kunis ) in a quest to chase after down the killer .
Caveat : I know nothing about the video plot . Not only have I never act as it , I ’ve never reckon so much as a screenland grab from it . So , I ca n’t speak to the authenticity of the movie in regard to the type and/or plot line of the game .
The pic opens with what we ’ve seen in the trailer : Max floating underwater , apparently unconscious . We are then kick back to " One workweek Earlier , " indicated in the current fad of spend a penny on - screen textbook look like it ’s part of the actual scene . We soon see Max , a sober and unsociable guy cable who has been downgrade to the Cold Case department at the local police precinct .
His married woman and child were murdered three old age ago and he ’s been on an off - obligation quest to find one of the killers . before long we get a mouthful of his search as he give three drug addicts in the metro an invitation to mug him , and in a pretty damn cool scene he invest them down very well .
presently thereafter at a political party flip by one of Payne ’s sneaker he meet Natasha , a topnotch - sexy hottie play by Olga Kurylenko . I ’ll give you one guess as to her nationality base on that tricky name . Her sister Mona come out at the party and there is some struggle between them that is not exonerated .
In the meanwhile there is an addictive drug that is take by word of mouth which seems will be a focal detail of the movie . At first it is quite confusing why anyone would even take this drug because it do terrifying hallucinations in the form of winged creature .
One thing leads to another and Max ends up teaming up with Mona and the trail leads them to a mysterious denudate , shirtless guy cable who carry a VERY heavy knife and knows how to utilize it ( much to the chagrin of his victims ) .
One of the only people on Max ’s side is B.B. Hensley ( play by Beau Bridges ) , an ex-wife - cop now head of security at the same pharmaceutical company that Max ’s married woman work for .
Based on the action game series of the same name, this neo-noir action thriller follows the titular detective, Max Payne, as he delves into New York City’s criminal underbelly to solve and avenge the murders of his wife and child.
So what ’s good … I ’d say in the first third of the movie , everything was middling good . Wahlberg , while not great , certainly redeems himself from his performance inThe Happening . Then again , how hard can it be to spiel melancholy and glum . Beau Bridges - just jazz the guy no matter what he does . He just has a great way about him that ’s a pleasure to view . Olga Kurylenko , well … allow ’s just say she’sreallyeasy on the center .
The tale and action are pretty solid at the scratch of the film as well .
So what ’s not so dependable … well , as the moving-picture show travel on it gets pretty ridiculous , and for some reason even the action scenes endure . Director John Moore makes usage of dull motion in a couple of scenes , and in one finical prospect it ’s not just slo - mo - it ’s topnotch - excruciatingly - painful slo - mo . I intend seriously , I might have had time to take a bathroom intermit and still hark back in clock time to see the scene ( which in real - meter would have direct two seconds ) ending .
The film gets more freaky as it goes on ( which for all I make love is how the game progresses ) and gets harder to think . By the remnant with vision of fiery sky , circle winged - fiend and lame duologue ( among other things ) , I was ready to get the heck out of the theater .
I give way it 2 1/2 stars only because of the former part of the picture show , and that overall it doeslookcool - but that does n’t make up for the rest .
Keep in mind that Max Payne isbarelyPG-13 , with intimate imagery and tons of pretty nasty fury missing only the blood which would have made it R.
