While not perfect, it comes pretty damn close -Iron Manis one of the best superhero movie adaptations to hit the big screen so far.

And yes , you could rest wanton -especiallyif you ’re a foresightful timeIron Manfan , this movie will rock your mankind . If you ’re not , get ready to witness the launch of the next big superhero dealership .
think it or not , this is one of the more unmanageable reviews I ’ve written . I ’ve been a huge supporter of this film , the product and Jon Favreau since day one , and I ’ve also been looking frontward to it probably longer than most of you read this have been alive . :-) So it was hard to balance the fanboy do it for the character and the fact that Iwantit to do well , with an objective look at the pic as a whole .
So , without any further delay , here ’s my review , free of any major spoilers …
The movie open up with the very familiar scene of Tony Stark ( dally by Robert Downey Jr. ) depend on in a Humvee with some soldier in what is presumably Afghanistan . Although we ’ve seen about a hour of this setting in trailers and clips , there ’s much more to it that ’s very funny and serves to start give way us a sense of who Stark is almost straight off . He ’s a billionare , but he ’s very engaging and as far from " stuffy " as you may imagine . Within a couple of minutes he couch the restrain soldier at ease .
Of course just as that happen all underworld breaks loose when an blowup take out the vehicle in the lead of theirs and brings their convoy to a stop . They ’re obviously outgunned and the vehicle ( and soldier are pepper with armor piercing bullets . Stark manages to get off from the vehicle and behind cover where he adjudicate to call for help , but ( as we ’ve see ) he gets hit by shrapnel from another detonation .
The moving picture then make out to a late flashback , less than two days prior , give us a look at Stark in his own ingredient : party hard in Vegas and becharm the bloomers off ladies ( quite literally , actually ) . Here we ’re introduce to his tenacious time champion and military liason Rhodey ( play by Terrence Howard ) , his founder - physical body Obadiah Stane ( play by Jeff Bridges ) and Pepper Potts ( Gwyneth Paltrow ) , his ever - on - the - clump personal assistant .
It does n’t take long for director Jon Favreau ( who also play Stark ’s driver , ' Happy ' Hogan ) to set up the dynamic between Tony and those who fence in him : Stane is the ' creditworthy ' one who handles the details of running the company , putting up with Tony ’s impulsive personality ; Rhodey also suffers Stark ’s personality , but at his core we almost see that he wishes he could be as carefree ; finally Pepper is Tony ’s John Rock : she hold open him on running and grounded and we see the playful sexual tenseness between them that is very close from churn over into something serious , but has been held back to exert their working relationship .
When we cut back to Stark in Afghanistan , we see his cocky attitude even in business as he march a state of the nontextual matter missile system to the high range officers in the field . From here we move back to the burst and then him as imprisoned , where we satisfy Professor Yinsen ( Shaun Toub ) , who has panel rig a equipment to keep Tony alive . Stark is wholly disoriented but Yinsen has been there for quite a while and instructs him on how to act in order of magnitude to not be immediately killed by his captors .
The terrorist ( known as " The Ten Rings " ) want him to build them a adaptation of that very same missile , which for reasons revealed in the plastic film will not be as difficult as you might think in his cave environment . rather Stark has an Twelfth day regarding his role in difference around the world and decides instead to construct something that will allow him and Yinsen to take to the woods : The Mark I armor .

If you ’re a long clock time Iron Man lover from the comics who ’s been wait for this movie forever , your fanboy oddball metre is going to be pegged , no question . If you never heard of Iron Man until you take up see commercial message for this , you , too will think it ’s awesome .
At the screening I attended , every metre Downey Jr donned a raw set of armor the crowd go nuts . The chemical reaction was extremely irrefutable with cheers do from the interview three or four times during the course of the motion-picture show , lot of laughter and applause at the closing credits .
One of the absolute best thing about this photographic film as far as comic Bible fans will be concerned is how faithful the movie is to the spirit of not only Tony Stark / Iron Man , but of the suffer characters as well . Favreau reached back to classic Tony Stark instead of depending on the more recent incarnation of the character : Impetuous , a bit older , risk taker and charming as hell throughout .
The action sequences were awesome , and it was quite unmanageable to distinguish the practical suits from the CGI versions . have intercourse the way they made Iron Man fly , with sluggish , aristocratic takeoffs and tiptop - fast landing ( quite the antonym of Superman ) , and the in - melodic line flight sequences were sprout in a way that also made them very credible . The ship’s bell and whistles turn back in the armor and used during various fights were very cool . In exceptional a vista where he faces off with terrorist using civilians as human carapace .
I loved the chemistry between Downey Jr. and Paltrow . I ’m not a big fan of hers as I usually notice her sort of cold on - screenland , but here she was clientele - like but also emanated a fond glow that made her vulnerable and likable . I thought Jeff Bridges was a act under - utilized , but for me the washy link and character chain was Terrence Howard as Rhodey . Maybe for those unfamiliar with the comics it wo n’t be an issue , but for me he did n’t work . As someone suggest earlier someone more like a way toned down Wesley Snipes would have fit the character well in my opinion .
So what hold back it from getting a upstanding 5/5 ? After the first unbelievable , awesome first minute , it seemed like the moving-picture show kind of lost its direction a bit . Like Tony did n’t really know what to do with the armor . A lot of time was spent in the edifice of it , but it did n’t seem like there was quite enough payoff from all that time drop . A lot of people were come to thatIron Manwouldn’t have a farsighted enough running time , but I really think that it could have used some trimming to tighten things up from it ’s just over 2 time of day length .
Also , yes , we all crave footage , trailers and image prior to a movie opening as we spume at the mouth from anticipation , but the fact that every natural process sequence in the movie was suggest at or partially bear witness in released footage take something aside . It would have been fantastic if there had been at least ONE action sequence in the moving-picture show that we had no clue about . Paramount , please take tone of that for the next film.:- )
On the other hired hand , even having seen so many clips , when the military action hit , it was AWESOME to behold . And sports fan will love the reference to " The Ten Rings " and I ’ll be damned if we have n’t seen the Mandarin in this movie . :-)
All in all though it more than live up to my anticipation and I ca n’t look for a sequel now that the origin story is out of the way !
P.S. Yes , you need to ride out through to the end of the credits for a brief , but fanboy - coolheaded scene . :-)
