He lead all of Matt Smith ’s epoch and all of Peter Capaldi ’s , before passing the show to Chris Chibnall . Moffat of late returned to write season 14 , episode 3 , " Boom " . He returned toaDoctor Whocastled by the young Doctor , Ncuti Gatwa .
Moffat spoke withScreen Rant ’s Caitlin Tyrrell about Gatwa ’s Doctor and hinted at how a potential crossover installment would play out . If Gatwa ’s Doctor met with Peter Capaldi and Matt Smith , Moffat expects that Gatwa and Smith ’s characters would get along well . Capaldi ’s Doctor , however , would likely be a " bad-tempered school teacher " , who would " play the guitar " with his opposite number and " jump a boy band " . Check out his full quote below :
What would they imagine ? The David and the Matt Dr. always become on really well . They just care each other . I imagine Capaldi would be grumpy about the other two not being proper Doctor of the Church like him . I think Matt and Ncuti ’s Doctor would just have a giggle togetherand run around and say , " This is cool . You convert your dress all the prison term . I ’m going to do that now ! " I cogitate that would be queer . That would actually be quite a funny terzetto . Ncuti and Matt would be the naughty shoal kids , and Capaldi would be the grumpy shoal instructor who ’s actually even spicy than they are , and they ’d all wager the guitar . They ’d startle a male child band .
Moffat’s Ideas For The Next Doctor Who Crossover
While A Boy Band Isn’t Likely, Moffat’s Plans Would Work
In the next crossover , Moffat imagines a three - Doctor crossover have Smith , Gatwa , and Capaldi as the Eleventh , Fifteenth , and Twelfth Doctors . The younger and more whimsical Smith and Gatwa would more easily tie in and bond , while Capaldi would slowly reveal his own whimsy over time . Originally , Capaldi would be more difficult for the other two to link up with . Nearly every MD ’s actorshave returned for crossing , soa special episode featuring all three would not be unprecedented . regrettably , most of those episodes have uttermost stakes , make the boy dance band idea unlikely .
Still , there is potential behind Moffat ’s plan for the nextDoctor Whocrossover . Since Russell T Davies originally leftDoctor Whoafter David Tennant ’s original tenure end , there have been four major Doctors who have taken his space : Matt Smith , Peter Capaldi , Jodie Whittaker , and Ncuti Gatwa . Moffat likely only named Capaldi and Smith because he verify their eras , butWhittaker would also be an interesting addition to the cast , given that she led the last era before Gatwa ’s ravel .
Tennant rejoin for a brief tenure as the Doctor between Whittaker and Gatwa ’s eras , but he only moderate three specials rather than a full season .

Gatwa ’s Doctor has already crossed over with another , as his basic episode featured him interact with David Tennant ’s Fourteenth Doctor . The Fifteenth Doctor work to convince the Fourteenth to spend time as a normal civilian for the foreseeable future , before proceed on to duplicate his TARDIS and begin a journeying of his own . His family relationship with Tennant ’s Doctor proved that Gatwa ’s has a well-disposed and welcoming personality . Moffat is right that he and the other modernistic Doctors would get along well in a futureDoctor Whocrossover .
