Eva - Jane Willis : We were in the middle of shooting Episode 11 , actually , and the announcement was made at a moment that I was n’t on solidifying . Eva - Jane Willis : I was just as in the dark as everyone else . I had to do all those scenes where I ’m tease everyone and wo n’t tell them how I got the name , and I did n’t even know myself . We work at such a swiftness on this show that we are forever learn raw thing about ourselves with each instalment . It was a real gem when I read this , and not only because we get to find out how the name came about , but because it ’s so in and of itself linked with her home and this deep , coloured closed book that everyone ’s been carrying around .
For me , it ’s really amazing to imagine that , now that this is all bring out , she continues on through life with this name , which actually comes from her birth male parent , and has been part of this huge closed book that she has not known about her integral life . It ’s like a little Chinaman in her armor that she scram to carry forever , which , as an actress , you love that stuff . So very glad with that .
Before the reveal , did you have any personal theories on where " Smitty " fare from ?

Eva - Jane Willis : What I love about the fact that they chose Smarties is that it ’s such a British chocolate . I do n’t intend they know that account at all before Wade came up with it for this episode . They wanted her to have a coolheaded nickname , and I thought that it might be something to do with her drinking daytime with Forrester , because when I first auditioned , and when I first joined , there was this mini backstory about how her and Forrester used to be drinking buddies , and she could drink just as much whiskey as he could .
I thought there was going to be some kind of story about one drunken Nox or something like that , and she got this soubriquet . It turn out I was completely wrong , and it was much sweeter than that — literally sweetened . It ’s really overnice that it ’s actually something much deeper than what I thought it was going to be . It has much more of an emotional impact on who she is . skilful thing I was n’t write it .
Smitty’s Relationships With Both Of Her Fathers Are “Tricky”
As you were saying , there ’s a second shocker in this episode when Niall is revealed as Smitty ’s founding father . What was your reaction when you check about the kink ?
Eva - Jane Willis : We have to have a instance . Every episode , there is a instance , and there has to be something that ’s exciting . They commonly take real headline to exalt whatever they ’ve compose for the case in each episode . They wanted to not only have this example , but have a personal ribbon for Smitty as well . So they cleverly managed to coil the two thing together and tangle them in a way that Smitty gets totally jeopardized emotionally , whilst trying to be professional and contain out this cause as usual . She always had this feeling that she was n’t just enough for her female parent , and this whole revealing kind of proves to her , " Oh , now I see why I was never good enough . Because I ’m walking trial impression of your own flaw , of your own imperfection . "
She believes that ’s the reason why they never really got on as well as she would have like .
