" It seems as though Veidt still prefers to operate from the shadow , since a headline on a prop newsprint inone of the show ’s determined photos stated , " Veidt formally announce Dead . " Perhaps he has found another secret lair to operate from .
The Yellow-Masked Police
The masks that we ’ve find out the most of inWatchmen ’s marketing are thoseworn by the police . These bright yellow masks cover the wearers ' grimace up to just below the eyes ( with the middle themselves mostly concealed by the lip of a hat ) , revealing nothing except the undefined bumps of ears and noses underneath . subtitle for societal medium posts featuring these mask policeman include , " enshroud in plain mint , " " Who watch the Watchmen ? One simply wears a dark coat with the collar turn over up and a shiny gold oral sex cover , similar in pattern to the I that the law officeholder wear . The other wear a red and chicken sports crown and a crimson balaclava - alike mask ( you may see the front of it reflected in the gold mask , revealing that it actually has eye holes ) . We know nothing at all about these two characters so far , but their teaser clip was accompany by creepy music , which indicates that they may be sorry guys . Moreover , if you count behind them you could see one last masked soul …
The Cowboy Hat
Seemingly either the Sheriff of Tulsa or in some other position of authorization at the police department , the personal identity of this inscrutable soma in a pale cowboy hat has been deliberately obscured so far . We see him in one shot walk down a hallway lined with yellow - masked police officers , and in the background of the shot with the red- and Au - block out individuals . In the latter shot it seems as though Cowboy Hat is also wear a face covering of some kind - unless his fount was merely obscured for this promo .

Whether intentionally or accidentally , Cowboy Hat appear to be framed in opposition to Rorschach , who is shown in the darkness with law car lights reflect off his mask . It may well be that Cowboy Hat is the drawing card of prescribed law enforcement , but there are still masked vigilantes illegally operating in the darkness . disregarding , Cowboy Hat does give off something of a villainous air in the brief glimpses we ’ve seen so far , and it will be interesting to bump out which actor is hiding under that rim .

The Minutemen inWatchmendidn’t really utilize many masks that covered characters ' intact faces . There was Hooded Justice , whose masque only had spyhole , and - of course - Rorschach , who go on his entire ugly mug covered . However , Mothman , Dollar Bill and Captain Metropolis had masks that lead the small halves of their faces exposed , while Nite Owl and the Comedian only wore small-scale domino masks , and Silhouette , Ozymandias and Silk Spectre did n’t wear mask at all … and there would n’t have been much point in Doctor Manhattan trying to conceal his identity operator .
By contrast , HBO’sWatchmenso far seems to have a grievous stress on masks that conceal characters ' entire faces , making it hard to tell who is who … and who can be trusted . Only Ozymandias and Frances Fisher ’s character have so far been shown entirely unmasked . We ’ll update this clause with more info about these characters ( and with entry on any further masked character reveals ) as more footage and images emerge .
